Research and General information

The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Institute is a multidisciplinary research center at the University of Washington. Its mission is to support and facilitate research and research dissemination in the field of alcohol and drug abuse.

The Brown University Center for Alcohol and Addictions Studies whose mission is to promote the identification, prevention, and effective treatment of alcohol and other drug use problems in our society through research, education, training, and policy advocacy.

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) has created this portal to support researchers and practitioners searching for information related to alcohol research.

AlcoholScreening.org is an easy-to-use, scientifically validated online alcohol screening test. Users answer a few quick questions, instantly finding out if their drinking patterns are likely to be risky or harmful.



Opioid Substitution Treatment

In October 2002, the FDA approved buprenorphine monotherapy product, Subutex®, and a buprenorphine/naloxone combination product, Suboxone®, for use in opioid addiction treatment.

The American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence (AATOD) was founded in 1984 to enhance the quality of patient care in treatment programs by promoting the growth and development of comprehensive methadone treatment services throughout the United States.

For more than twenty-five years since its founding in 1978, the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP), which represents nearly 275 not-for-profit and for-profit providers (free standing and hospital based programs, which offer a full continuum of care from outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient rehabilitation regimes), has acted as the voice of private alcoholism and drug dependency treatment programs throughout the U.S.



Prevention

In 1981, the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) launched the Alcohol Policies Project to help focus public and policy maker attention on high-leverage policy reforms to reduce the devastating health and social consequences of drinking.
